1688 Buying Agent for Overseas Buyers

BuyTCN helps overseas buyers evaluate and purchase eligible products from 1688. A 1688 buying agent coordinates the purchase; the supplier still controls its stock, specifications, minimum order quantity and production terms.

When to use a 1688 purchasing agent

1688 serves a domestic wholesale market. An overseas buyer may need help with seller communication, domestic delivery, payment arrangements or combining purchases. Check the current options available to your own account before deciding that an agent is necessary.

For small businesses, the important question is whether the supplier and total landed cost fit the order. A low listing price may depend on a quantity tier, exclude options or refer to a different specification. An agent cannot promise that every supplier accepts one piece or removes its MOQ.

Prepare a useful sourcing request

Provide the listing or a clear product specification, quantity per variant, required materials or dimensions, destination and intended use. State whether you need a sample or repeatable stock for a business. Confirm branding rights and any testing or labeling requirements separately.

Ask the seller to confirm the exact unit price, stock, domestic freight and lead time. For a repeat order, do not assume the earlier sample or listing proves a later batch will be identical. Record the approved specification in the order.

Samples, purchasing and agreed checks

Use a sample to check suitability before a larger commitment when practical. A sample order still has product, domestic transport, service and international delivery costs. Ask who bears those costs and whether any credits are conditional.

Agree the inspection scope before purchase. QC photos can document visible appearance, quantity and packaging; they do not authenticate a brand, establish regulatory compliance or replace laboratory testing.

Purchasing assistance is different from a factory audit, production inspection or laboratory test. If you need these, ask for the scope and price explicitly; they are not implied by standard warehouse photos.

1688 agent fees and total order cost

BuyTCN purchasing service fees start at US$20 and use progressive tiers. Product sourcing without a link costs US$10, creditable toward a future order’s purchasing service fee. The one-time US$1 order activation is credited toward the first order’s service fee; it is not a subscription. Goods, shipping and import charges are quoted separately. Sending an inquiry does not place an order or authorize a charge.

Compare 1688 and Alibaba using the same specification, quantity and responsibilities. Include seller-to-warehouse transport, payment costs, service fees, packing, international delivery and import costs. Neither marketplace is always the cheaper choice.

Consolidation and overseas shipping

Multiple suppliers mean different dispatch dates and separate domestic freight. Before combining stock, check storage conditions, seller return windows, packing needs and the available routes. Consolidation changes package dimensions and may change the shipping rate.

Plan your order

Send product links or specifications, quantities, destination country and postal code, and any deadline to request an itemized quote. Share only the information needed for your inquiry. Availability, seller terms and shipping restrictions are checked for the actual order.

Review service fees and returns and cancellation conditions before authorizing payment.
